Been cookin’ and eatin’

Oops, it’s April already. Well, now that the taxes are filed and a refund is on the way, I am thinking of ways to spend that money- and of course it involves travel – specifically traveling to eat.

The first stop will be Mrytle Beach.

Wait. Stop laughing. No really. I’m serious.

The Grand Strand is holding its first Coastal Uncorked food and wine festival May 16-23 and man, are the organizers being ambitious!

A food trolley will take diners from restaurant to restaurant for wine tastings, cook-outs, a pig roast  – and get this – an Aztec Pool Party (great name for a band).

You hop off the trolley, eat, drink, dance – hop back on and head to the next place. A foodie magic carpet.

Other events include $20 prix fixe menus at dozens of restaurants, cooking demonstrations and a Food Fight, featuring local chefs in an Iron Chef-style competition.

The most intriguing event is called “Symphony, Sharks and Champagne.” Not eating sharks,  just looking at them at the Ripley’s aquarium while sipping bubbly and listening to musicians.
